Use the tool Pipette to display RGB values when you click on a pixel.
Open your image, test the RGB values for the first pixel by clicking on the first pixel position (X = 0, Y = 0). Note the RGB values for this pixel.
Copy your image and past as new image. Test the RGB values for the first pixel of the new image (pasted) by clicking on the first pixel position (X = 0, Y = 0). Compare RGB values to see if your clipboard alter colors.
If the first pixel is black or white try with other pixel

I've tested it. There is no difference. I've also tested it with the Arithmetic plugin. I've just subtracted the new (pasted) image from the original one. The result was a picture with 100% black.
But I haven't had the problem today until I switched the clipboard catching tool on again. Maybe it was just a hap.
If you want to test this tool too you should use the complete package with all plugins from my site (first download link, the name is CLCL):

@Tom:
It surely would be good to know if you are also using any clipboard catching tools.
Today again all was fine until I switched the clipboard tool back on again. Then I've tried to remove some graphic related formats and filters of the tool. But I'm not sure if this has changed something. I'll remove the tool for the next days to see if the problem has gone.

I don't really understand this sentence. I always do some copy/paste - the whole day - in many applications. And: Did the problem occur again? Or just one time and then never again?Tom a écrit :No i don't use a special tool for my clipboard, but it is possible that i had done some copy/paste before the anomaly reported.
Nevertheless I'm now pretty sure that it has something to do with the clipboard tool. I've performed the tutorial 11 (!) times without problems. Then I've switched the clipboard tool back on again and the problem occured already at the first selection. Thank god I can live without that tool...
