Why not try the line tool ?

I'm sorry musicman,

if you have tried this basic tool and don't see how to do, i'm not able to explain how somebody can use his mouse.

what he's saying that it's not like a pattern that you'll click on it and it'll just apear you have to take the line tool and make lines on your white background manually, does that explain a bit?
