Crash with png images

Photo Filtre Studio crashes after setting transparency images on a new layer a second time.
Better, first set a png on the same Layer, undo, set a new image...bummm.

Hello. I have tried what you have described with transparancy, png, etc. I do not know a lot about this, so perhaps you would answer a question for me. What are common uses for transparancies and transparent colors? I could work with the transparent colors with a png file, but I first tried after converting to rgb. As you read you must perceive just how little I know about this. Your collaboration is appreciated.

Again, I tried duplicating what you have described with second png and/or undo, but no crash. I use Studio also.

Hi Burk,
We need some informations more to have an idea of what can happens.
- Size of the RAM on your computer
- Size of the swap disk available in Parameters of the workstation/Performances
- Size of the PNG file in pixels
- The PNG was saved by PFS or by another program ?
- Have you closed all the other programs during using PFS ?

Hi Jaume,
to keep transparencies without convert your picture in RVB :
Open a new picture withe or black, as you prefer.
Then :
- menu Layer/New/Open as new layer and choose the file
- Or copy the picture opened as it is, and paste on the background picture and you get a new layer with transparencies kept.

So you can work on the layer and save the layer again as PNG without any transformation of colours mode.

Here it is.
Happens every time i tried to set Layer>new>open as layer again. It is not the png, more the available of the open as layer option a second time.
It crashes also before i can choose the png.

Different images, different png ...
These are small images and just a logo and a ruler which was made as background transparency in Photoshop.

Carefully delete all Filters...happend again.

Couldn't be a problem with my specs, cause i used it for CAD.
Workstation power, OpenGl supported graphik card ( nVidea Quadro )
1 Gig of RAM. No Problem with other apps.

Made some more tests.
It seems to crash after using the formats ( or load it) from the desktop.
These files are all placed on the desktop.
After put them back to their folder everything seems to be okay.

What could be happen?

What does the crash look like ? Is there any error message ?

First time there is a message like pfs.exe error found, it must be closed
( Something like that, it is in German but standart)

The other times it closed in silence mode. Nothing, nada... just shut down.

My Fiancée and I have also been experiencing random crashes of PhotoFiltre - No error message, just suddenly gone. Seems to occur either on opening of an image or an attempt to save or save as. We use separate PCs... both running Win XP Pro. I'm also trialing PhotoFiltre Studio and am experiencing the same issue.

I work daily on xp pro and xp home, with PF6 or PFS, to edit png or jpg files, with several pictures or layers together and have never met that you describe.
Could you give us a little more informations about the background or the surrounding discourse. ?

I have the same problem. PhotoFiltre crash when i try to save a png file and i work with 3 png's in the same time.

- Win XP Home
- 512 mb ram
- all other programs closed

Ok, i think i found exactly when is crashing, i try to explain:

1) Make a folder on desktop and put all 3 png's inside.

2) Run PhotoFiltre and load all 3 png's one at the time clicking on '' LOAD '' button not through drag and drop.

3) Now just start to edit some png's , Click on ''FILE'' >>>>>> ''Save As'' (must be in the same folder) and try to give a name to the modified png. At this point PhotoFiltre crash and closes instantaneously.

notes: Must be a very strange bug because if you load and edit one file at the time and not clicking on ''LOAD'' button but through drag and drop from your desktop and the final edited file is not saved on the same location PhotoFiltre does not crash!
