tools are greyed

I successfully opened and made numerous changes to two graphic files with out a problem. However i just opened my third file and now i find that most of the tools are not selectable, they are greyed.

Have i done something, or is something wrong with the file or ??

you can use the "Search" button above to do a research with key-word like "tools AND greyed".
So you can get this answer :
