Gif problem running PF/PFS under Wine in Ubuntu

Photofiltre is my main graphics tool!

I moved to Ubuntu a couple of years ago, and have not found anything that comes close, PF installs and runs fine using Wine in Ubuntu.

A problem with gif files though. When opening a gif file I am presented with a back blackground and along the bottom of the canvas three representations of the image in different colours, possible an RGB breakout?

Can create and save a basic gif OK, but fails to save if trying to make areas transparent.

Are there any system files needed in wine to help PF along, or is there another fix?

I too am using Ubuntu 7.10 and have installed PFS v9 in Crossover Linux. Everything works great, however, when I attempt to register the program, I enter my name and my registration code, but the "OK" button does not become active. Is there something someone may know that can help me as I keep getting the reminder that I only have "so many" days left to register.

==> it's because your key is not valide for the new PFS version or because you don't respect lower and uper case for the user name

I re-installed PSF in Wine and the registration key and name were the same. The registration was accepted in Wine. However the GIF files in Photomasque do not work properly in Wine and they do in Crossover Linux. I attempted entering the name and key numerous times in case what you described is what happened. No luck. I am not trying to be a smart aleck, but may there be another reason?

Thankyou, that worked perfectly. I do not know why I did not think of that. Using Ubuntu 7.10 and Wine Photofiltre Studio ver 9 works great. If anyone is thinking of changing to Linux, you can still use one of the best photo manipulating programs written.

I think this is problem Wine bug.
