Why aren't some preferences permanent?

Photofiltre is a beautiful looking program which I mainly use to process digital photographs. Just a few suggestions to make it even better IMHO:

1. If I reduce red-eye via Adjust | Colour Balance in one picture, when I open the next picture the Colour Balance settings revert to zero and I have to set them all over again. It would be nice if Photofiltre could 'remember' the last settings over different pictures, or even over different sessions.

2. Similarly for Image | Rotate | Free. Could the last selected value not be remembered? And the same for other functions of course

3. Similarly for the grid. If I choose to view the grid, I would like to see it on all pictures until I switch it off

4. Any chance of user-definable buttons? Rather than having to go through the menus each time eg Adjust | Colour Balance and Image | Rotate | Free (these are the two functions I use most!), could there be an option for users to assign functions to speedbuttons?

I'm looking at these two items and laughing as I type this. Please don't take offense I'm just an easy going guy and am not making fun. If you think about what you are asking for item #1 many of us and I would say most do not want this feature for the same reason you don't want this feature in item #2.

Definitely not a good idea for a future feature and 1 I could not find on over 10 programs I checked real quick. The reason is many folks when working on a project may have various type images going at once, for instance if you where making a banner with some buttons on the bottom:

1 image may be text, another the background, another a couple small photo's and yet others with the buttons. Depending on what you are doing in each image you may need different size grids for more precise work. While that real precise grid is great for the image you are working on it gets in the way for a photo that you may be adjusting the color on or stampig out imperfections.

Now that or a user definable toolbar like there is for the plugins would be a nice idea. I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement but it would be a nice feature.
