Masks & Transparent Mode

Message par matthias »

Hi there,

I like the masks with tranparent mode, when I make like a collage (i.e. many pictures together).

What I realized is, that the image quality gets pretty poor after the application of the mask. THis only happens with the transparent mode..

Has anybody experienced similar behaviour and - more important :-)) - does anybody know how to handle this..

best regards
and thanks in advance
Matthias

Hi matthias,

I think you are working with the freeware 6.2.7 release.
The transparency in this release can only be managed in Indexed colours mode, as last part of your work (before saving).
That's to say only in 256 colours.

When you want to save a picture for a later use with transparency, you can prepare the picture with a single colour area,
which will be turn in transparency, in a proper time, and you save it in jpeg or png type.
When needed, the picture can be re-opened, and the area of single colour can be selected with the magic wand.
Any other picture can be pasted in, or you can inverse selection and copy the selected part of the picture, to paste it on an other picture.
The single colour area is then full transparent, and before validate pasting, a right clic in the selection, enables to adjust opacity of your pasted picture.
