Hello everyone,
I've used the search and found some threads dealing with transparency and semi-transparency. However, I still don't understand how to make a semi-transparent image from scratch. Let's say I have a (non-tranparent, of course) JPEG image. Now can somebody please explain, step by step, what I have to do to create a semi-transparent PNG from it?
Thanks in advance!
n.b.: I always use the most current release of PhotoFiltre Studio.
How to create a true semi-transparent PNG image?

Semi-transparent
Hi, please teach me what constitutes semi-transparent, and maybe I know? I know if you "export" a layer under "LAYER," you have the option of saving as a .png. If semi-transparent is simply a matter of saving it partially transparent using the opacity slide under the layer option before exporting, then that is what you do, but please, teach me. Thanks!

Tried
OK, I tried the above, exporting a transparency layer at 40% opaque, but when I inserted the .png saved layer, it was at 100% visible. The I looked at the transparency I saved by exporting it, and it also saved at 100%. Perhaps something here is of help. I am sorry I could not supply something more definitive.

Del Erase
Thank you Antonio. What constitutes "semi-transparent?"
I have executed the procedure, and it is really nice. Of course the semi part of transparency is self-explanatory now, after having executed and viewed it.
PIGSgrame
Now this is really neat. Below I followed the instructions provided by Antonio da Cruz, but instead of deleting the entire selection, I only deleted the white area of the text baloon. This is really a nice feature. See how the text remained 100% while the white is 50% in my SEMI-TRANSPARENT LAYER.
