I mean instead than duplicate the LAYER ,blurring it (or do anything else to it like using filter or colour corretion tools)and then blending

I don't know why but often in this way i get much better results
...I didn't try beta10 yet maybe it will solve also this kind of problems

Merci

One thing I've learned by being a Wise Old Sage is there is more than one way to skin a cat when it comes to Graphics Software.
Most of the time there is more than one way to do something or create a certain effect. A lot of times it has to do with a persons way that they work and nothing more. In the case of some of my tutorials I've done for the past 11 years I will do things for no other reason than to showcase a function the program may have that folks would otherwise not even know about.
Just look at transparency in PhotoFiltre Studio! You can create a mask, you can create and then paste an aplha layer, you can use the Layer Gradient Tool, you can use the eraser tool, you can make selections and there is probably something else that somebody will tell us about that I don't know or forgot. Which way is best? You can debate that one I won't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
Now onto your suggestion, I really did not see how it applied to my tutorial since the Correction was the blur and screen. You State:

That is exactly what I did. I corrected the image, by using a blurred screen. Now I could just as easily have used Gama Correction and Brightness and Contrast to correct the image but I was doing nothing more than presenting a different way of correcting the image to folks who may not be aware of that technique and also introducing some folks for the very 1st time to the power of the Screen Blend mode.correct the duplicate in the way you need and, only when you finish any kind of correction/manipolation, paste the DUPLICATE IMAGE on the original

if i understund well youThat is exactly what I did. I corrected the image, by using a blurred screen.
1open the image
2 duplicate the layer ....and so on
my idea was to
1 open the image
2 duplicate the image ....and so on
result is exactly the same skinned cat,...but there is a difference,it is a way to skin a cat that works also to skin a horse or a apple:
Still i think than the work on a (duplicate) image is more easy and flexible than the work on a (duplicate) layer, ... again you are right this is not directly connetted with your tutorial ,as it is , but could allow more flexibility to apply variants with success...and Best tutorias to me are the one that could be used as starting point and customized ,and in those occasions flexibility is highly welcomed.
sorry i'm going out of topic... and more i'm stepping in the battleground of giants...i'm going back to the new beta...and again Bill thank you for your tutorials because they help me to discover a lot of hidden and very useful features of PFS
