grid generator problem
I've found that with some images that after processing an image with the grid generator, when the image is saved the grid loses some information and looks different. I tested with various versions of PhotoFiltre and had the same result. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution?

Re: grid generator problem
To preserve grid details, it is better to save in PNG (lossless) rather than in JPEG, for example.

Re: grid generator problem
I tried your suggesting of saving as PNG, and got the same result: the grid was simplified and used only one color. Then I tried saving as each of the different file types, noticed that when saved as a GIF file, the grid was more similar to the original: the grid was not simplified and used all the same colors as in the original, however the overall composition of the grid was moved to the left. I repeated the entire procedure a second time and tried
saving as GIF again, this time no information was lost.

Re: grid generator problem
Perhaps I undertsanded. In the grid unit, use pixel and not cm/inch, because cm/inch are linked to resolution. Or check if the resolution is the same before and after saving

Re: grid generator problem
I checked and can confirm that I am using the pixel setting with the grid generator. I can also confirm that the resolution is the same on the
original and processed versions of the image.
To try and state the problem more clearly:
When I process an image with the grid generator, if I save the image using JPEG or TIF, the grid is simplified by leaving out variations in color. With some images, the variations in grid color are reduced but not completely left out.
If I save the image using GIF, the grid has the same color variations but usually the composition/structure of the grid is changed. However, during one test, an image saved as GIF was not changed at all.

Re: grid generator problem
Better format is PNG because it's lossless. Jpeg blur lines and gif is 256 color only and can change the color, PNG 32-bit is the best for this...

Re: grid generator problem
I tested again saving to PNG, using 32-bit Windows 7. The result was similar to JPEG and TIF, with color variations of the grid left out.

Re: grid generator problem
For information, the grid displayed with the option [Display > Show grid] is not saved in the image file, it is only a working grid

Re: grid generator problem
I'm not sure if I understand correctly... I can't find an option that says {Display > Show grid]. When I save an image, I've processed the file with the grid generator before saving. I'm not trying to save a file with a preview of the grid generator.

Re: grid generator problem
You're right, I don't understand because I can't find any bugs and there have never been any reported of this type. And as you saw in the PNG example that I sent you by email, the result is correct.
