 rubber is present in photofiltre studio (you can download it in the forum, use "search" toll to find it.
on the free 's version (photofiltrev;6.1.1) you can use the brush: color white(or an other one) as a rubber....

I understand that an eraser to transparancy can come in handy when u are creating GIF or PNG files, since they make use of transparancy. But....

Transparacny in either GIF or PNG is just a color substitute:
A specific color value will be replaced with the 'color' transparancy.
For this same reason, a pixel will be either compleetly transparent or not.
Even if you use a treshold value for transparancy all the colors in rance will first be converted to the same transparacy value.

Photofiltre Studio, However uses an alpha channel for transparancy. This is an additional byte to the color value, telling how transparent that color is. This means you can have 256 levels of transperancy.

What you could do, is picking a specific, very seperated color en use it ot erase. Pink (#FF99CC) seems to be a favorite for some reason (at least in PNG), and the convert that specific color to transparancy

An other way is to create a mask out of the foreground picture,
Edit so that everything you want from the forground picture is white and every you want from the background picture is black

Then:
Open the foreground picture,
choose menu Filter > photomasue
Set the mask to the mask you created
Set mode To Pattern
Select the backgroundpicture as pattern

This way, you also simulate (in a limited way) apha channel transparancy.
