AVIF support

I saw this question asked in 2022 with no reply. I'm on the current version, but it still won't open an AVIF file which are becoming much more common now.

When will AVIF be supported please?

I find that it is not very useful because there are already plenty of converters both online and program to convert AVIF to JPEG. Especially since the AVIF format requires a lot of dll for the codecs, so I don't know if it's worth it...?

Why was the WebP image format added to PhotoFiltre in the past, when there were converters available to convert to and from the WebP image format? Adding the WebP image format seemed to be useful then.

What about people who don't want to convert AVIF images to JPEG (i.e. who don't want to convert from a superior format to an inferior format)? What about people who want to save all newly created images in AVIF format? What about people who want to open AVIF images in PhotoFiltre? What about people who want to standardize on AVIF as their default image format?

De toute façon, même si je le voulais, je n'ai pas trouvé de dll simple pour Delphi ou Lazarus qui ouvre le format AVIF, donc je ne peux pas faire de plugin pour ça. Je ne fais pas ce que je veux, seulement ce que je peux

Mais comme je l'ai dit plus haut, si on ne peut pas ouvrir directement une image AVIF dans PhotoFiltre, il suffit de la convertir en PNG par exemple via un convertisseur en ligne ou avec des outils de conversion comme XnView ou IrfanView (j'en profite pour faire de la pub aux collègues)

Where can I find a plugin that allows me to load and save AVIF files in PhotoFiltre? At least being able to load them would be great. I've been working with PhotoFiltre since Windows 95, and since 2022 with version 11. Since then, I've also been using it under Linux. It runs flawlessly. I refuse to use any other program But AVIF is becoming increasingly popular online, and I'd like to be able to edit these images without having to convert them first.

Are there any plugins for this, and where can I find them? Please help me find them. Yours truly, a loyal user forever!

Thanks for the quick reply, but the link just restarts the forum. Unfortunately, that doesn't help me open an AVIF file or find a plugin for it.

I keep reading about ImageMagick. So, is it not natively supported in PhotoFiltre version 1.7.0? I have the version from September 1, 2025.

Which external converters? What does that mean? So far, I've been converting the AVIF images with XnConvert so I can then edit the image, for example, as a PNG with PhotoFiltre. Is that the intended behavior? Will there be an update that can process AVIF directly?

I just read that you need pl_samples.zip? Where can I get it? I can't find it anywhere online... Does it work in combination with ImageMagick?
