I had PFS 9 on my desktop PC, but now I am using a laptop. The former was XP Home, and my present is W-7. It will not accept the installation. Must I purchase a new install program, or is there another solution?

no, the installation and registration are different process and are not linked.
Under windows 7 and vista, it's better to use the studio X optimised for users with no admin privilege
