The image are normal photo images however, they seem to load from the top down if that matters and it takes quite a while sometimes. I have tried the tool smushit.com run by yahoo to losslessly compress the images but that didn't seem to help much.

I don't have photoshop to save for web.. I have also tried saving as smaller file sizes online but the images still seem to take so long to load. Is this just on my end or am I missing something? If you could offer any tips for getting the page to load faster that'd be great.

Of course I should preface this with I am not a web designer! I'm a CFO in a very small business, and in the small business everyone ends up getting the odd roles that other corps would simply hire out! So please don't mind the elementary design, as we are currently winging it.

Hi, welcome to this forum,
even if you have pasted the whole question from an other post. 8)

At first, you have to consider the size of the images expressed in pixels.
For the web it's quite useless that its size be bigger than the size of the screen (in pixels)

Evidently the speed of transmission depends of many factors : the capacity of the server in the cloud,
the size of the bandwidth of the web providers (for the server and the customers)...

PhotoFiltre can help you to resize your images, for example in 1280 pixels wide for a full screen.
You can also use a plugin "html split" from Benjamin Fournier, to download from this page :
http://www.photofiltre-studio.com/plugins/plugins-en.htm
This plugin divides the image in several little images and create the html code to join and display them properly.
But you need to know some elementaries notions of html code to insert the result in your web page.

Here you have two exemples of pans cut with this plugin :

Enjoy with PhotoFiltre.
