Re: Macrose
It's very kind Jack,
but a little too burned for my taste. Try a look with the histogram. You can win some 40 points am left side (minimum).
I suggest a light white balance filter with the pipette on the middle of the top left petal and choose the blue channel
Following by a positive contrast mask in overlay : duplicate the layer holding the white balance and do Copy.
Fill the higher layer with RGB 51 and Paste as Alpha channel (the copy which is in the clipboard)
Switch the Blend mode of this layer from Normal to Overlay and reduce opacity around 50.
Return on the white balance layer and reinforce the sharpness of the heart of the rose.
It can give something like this :
I hope it doesn't change completly the vision you had of the scene, and this result is near as you would wish to enhance.

Re: Macrose
Hello Tom, The following is the best I could do. Usually when I post anything I have only processed using the minimum of PFS tools, and then only the basic of those. With referencing tutorials I did the following, the black and white is added because I like the sharpness of the image, at least it seems sharp to me. Thank you for the instructions. I could not find the overlay tool or whatever process is employed to achieve the overly....

Re: Macrose
Hello Jack,
i was troubled by your next to last answer.
In any case my propositions sould be examined as an expression of any law or some universal rule
let-alone as a blame. I only suggest some practices which i think as funny or amazing to play with PF Studio.
I like very much the black and white one, the right leave return a metalic glanz which looks extremly nice and fully fashion.
Global sharpness is quiet correct, without any doubt, just a little bit miss to the rose's heart.
The colored one seems better for the high lights according with the histogram analysis, but can be more contrasted
if you slide the both side triangles toward the edges of the graphic.
For playing with Overlay fusion mode of layers, i suggest you to try this automatic translation if readable and understable :
http://translate.google.fr/translate?sl ... ml&act=url
I have discovered later the contrast mask : a copy of the Background turned in negative.
This contrast mask is copied ans pasted as Alpha chanel in a gray layer to hole it and make it more transparent by places.
This layer is then switch in overlay fusion mode and enhance local contrasts.
I hope you will find this try as a pleasant entertainment.

Re: Macrose
Heaven forbid! No, I did not think you were blaming anyone, I thought you were helping, all I wanted to convey is that I am not the brightest bulb on the chandelier. I love to get the how-to information from those who know, YOU. Thank you...........lots!!

Re: Macrose
Hi Jack,
i'm now relieved. I didn't think that a tutorial could produce so heavy stress level.
Thanks too for helping me to improve my low knowledges of english language and idioms.
I didn't know "the brightest bulb on the chandelier". Great;
I will try to place it am Christmas diner with the parents in law of my son.
Have a nice day.
