Transparency

I'm sorry but I do not understand what is the transparency.
If I follow the instructions of the tutorial, the color selected with the pipette, becomes gray and white like a chessboardhttp://www.photofiltre-studio.com/forum/postin ... e=post&f=2#

Thank you for the reply.
If I select F1 on the PC keyboard, a PF tutorial appears. Also if I click the "question mark" on the above line of the PF page and choose "Information"
The "transparency" mode is explained, but sincerely speaking, I do not understand what can I do with it.

For exemple to save a round look like image.
Every numeric image is a rectangular one, but if you set in transparency the corners beyond a rounded selection,
you can make believe it is a round one.
