.EPS File Format Help

Greetings,

I have downloaded and installed the Association Plug-In, ticked the .EPS box and hit the "Associate" button, but I still do not have the ability to save a file in that format. Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

As far as I know, the file association option is given for having the capability to open an EPS image in Studio, however I do not believe it allows the option of converting to or saving as EPS in PF Studio. When you open an encapsulated image, then, for example, change the name and save it, it will default to the BMP extension.

Not speaking French, I didn't realize that was the function of the Association Plug-In...darn. I have a .JPG I need to save as an .EPS so being able to open encapsulated files isn't going to help me much at this point. Thanks for the assistance. :)

Feel free to send it to me to convert, but I cannot attest to the quality. First, check to see if you have the option to "save as" .eps in any other graphic program you may possess.

Thank you for your kind offer, I may just take you up on it - however, there is a chance that I will need to convert additional files in the future. I noticed on your site that you are familiar with many freeware programs...would you know of any you could recommend that convert files to .EPS?

Yes

GIMP is free, and it will save or convert your jpg files.

Hi,
I have just tried with The Gimp, and it saves as ".ps" and not ".eps".
I have tried also with Pixia (freeware) and it saves really in eps.

Thank you both for the information. Here's where I'm at now: I opened my .jpg in Gimp and saved it as an .eps - or, at least it appears to be in .eps format, but Photofiltre won't open it even though I have .eps format selected in the Association Plug-In. :?:

Jaume44, I am going to go ahead and send you a link to the image as per your generous offer. I have a deadline to meet and I can see that I won't be fully digesting Gimp or Ghostscript anytime in the near future... I may be in over my head already!

Tom, I will go have a look at Pixia again - if I recall, it is not as complicated as Gimp et al. Simple is good, very good. :) Will Pixia open an .eps file, though? I would really like to check the quality of the conversion before sending it off to its new owner.

Tom,

I have GIMP 2.2, and I saved a graphic as .eps. I have .eps associated with Studio, ergo it saves with the Studio icon, however the extension is encapsulated, .eps. Pixia is also good.

Jael, As it turns out, I cannot open the .eps in Studio. It does open in Adobe Illustrator as an .eps, if that works for you, you already have it converted by GIMP or PIXIA.

eps, Good Question

Jael has asked about eps and Studio. I thought that because eps is in the file association options an eps graphic would open in Studio. Actually, I thought I HAD opened one in Studio, but if I did, I cannot now. I have tried saving graphics in eps format in Adobe Illustrator, GIMP, and PIXIA in order to try opening an eps in Studio.
My question is, "Will eps open in Studio?" If not, why is the option for Studio association given?

Thank you, Jack (Merci)

Thank you very much François! Merci François!
Everything works fine NOW. I even managed to open an Adobe eps, but the ones I convert in Picture Publisher have much better resolution. Any suggestions are welcome.
