plugins 8BF AKVIS SmartMask

In spite of Akvis' assurance that SmartMask works with Photofiltre http://akvis.com/en/compatibility-software.php, I get the following Error message:

Can't work without transparency channel
please unlock the transparency channel or duplicate the layer

Preferences 8BF - set to RBGA
Automatic transparency background is included (tried both, separate and merged)
Nothing is locked
The installed plugin works with PS CS3 and is installed correctly for PFx. I do however prefer to work with PFx.

Anyone with experience in this regard, I might have overlooked a specific setting?

i think this plugin is for photoshop only, no ?

Thanks for your reply. PS only? Not exactly (see URL above), the mistake was on my part for misreading it. But then there are always the standalone versions, yes?

Anyway, StudioX's internal Lasso and Optimise Clipping.... are doing a comparatively pretty decent job as well, at least for starters. Not only a damn sight faster but under certain circumstances even better, no?
